The seal wife
3D paper illustration for “Wunderkammer” book based on the Scottish and Irish folktales of Selkies or "Seal Wives", women who appear as seals in the ocean but shed their seal-skins to walk on land. According to the legend, fishermen would take the skins and thus the Selkies would become their wives. Some of the stories are happy and some sad, but regardless, the Selkie always pines for the sea and eventually makes her return.
Content or not, this Selkie has surrounded herself with reminders of the ocean.
